Mashal is implementing Samruddhi project in 6 slums namely Shinde wasti, Gosavi wasti, Lohiya Wasti, Sainath wasti, Tarawade wasti and Mahatma Phule wasti.

Unemployment is one of the biggest issues faced by slum dwellers. To address this issue, we have taken various steps. One of them is providing supportive business material for increasing their income. So, we have identified 13 beneficiaries from our project 6 slums. And have distributed material in the year of 2019. i.e., sewing machine, hand carts, vegetables crate, electronic weight machine, masonry tools.

Because of this support the monthly income of those beneficiaries is increased as compared to previous income.

Mr. Somnath Mohan Kambale, live in Tarawade wasti with his parents and wife. He is having 2 sons and 1 daughter studying in school. Mr. Somnath was a musician. He used to play banjo which is local music instrument with his own vehicle in various functions and marriages. But 8 years before, due to some medical problem, he had to sell his banjo vehicle for submitting hospital bills. After recovering from illness, he did not have any source of income so he took hand cart on rent and started collecting scrap material on hand cart. But he had to give Rs 1500 amount from his income as a rent to hand cart owner. During the survey, our field animator identified this family’s need. So, after seeing the condition of family we had decided to support this family by providing hand cart. After supporting a hand cart his average monthly income is Rs. 9500 to Rs. 11000. Other than his investment he is getting average monthly profit up to Rs. 5000. Also, he can save rent amount. Now he can work extended hours. He can work extra time as he is having his own hand cart.

Mr. Mohan is saying that, “I am so much thankful to John Deere Company and Mashal for supporting me as I can fulfil the basic needs of my family. I can collect scrap easily and should not pay the rent. I can also sell vegetables and fruits on this hand cart.”
