School Upgradation Case Study 1
Empowering Education Through Infrastructure: A Multipurpose Hall for ZP School, Zari Valhipada
School Name: ZP School, Zari Valhipada, Talasari, Palghar
Background
Zilla Parishad School, Zari Valhipada is situated in a remote tribal area of Palghar district and caters to 161 students. Despite its strong student enrolment, the school faced significant infrastructure gaps. One of the major challenges was the absence of a dedicated space for academic and co-curricular activities.
Classes, cultural events, teacher training sessions, and mid-day meals were conducted in open areas, making it extremely difficult to function during heavy rains or intense heat. The lack of protected infrastructure limited opportunities for experiential learning, extracurricular participation, and the overall development of students.
Challenges
- Lack of a dedicated indoor space for academic and co-curricular activities.
- Frequent disruptions during monsoon and summer seasons.
- Limited opportunities for cultural programmes, competitions, and student engagement.
- Inconvenient arrangements for mid-day meals, especially during adverse weather conditions.
- Difficulty conducting teacher training sessions and parent meetings.
Intervention
To address these challenges, MASHAL NGO, in collaboration with Gharda Chemicals Ltd., constructed a 40 x 30 ft multipurpose hall in March 2025.
The hall was designed to support classroom activities, cultural programmes, community gatherings, teacher training sessions, and student engagement activities throughout the year, irrespective of weather conditions.
Impact
The construction of the multipurpose hall brought about several positive changes:
- Weather-Proof Learning Environment: Students and teachers now have a safe and conducive indoor space for learning and activities.
- Improved Mid-Day Meal Arrangements: Students can comfortably eat their meals in a clean and protected environment.
- Enhanced Co-Curricular Participation: The hall provides a dedicated venue for cultural programmes, competitions, sports-related activities, and school events.
- Stronger Community Engagement: Parent meetings and teacher training sessions can now be conducted effectively throughout the year.
- Increased Student Confidence: Greater participation in school activities has improved students’ confidence and skill development.
- Positive School Environment: The school atmosphere has become more vibrant, inclusive, and supportive of holistic student development.
Conclusion
The construction of the multipurpose hall has transformed the learning environment at ZP School, Zari Valhipada. By addressing critical infrastructure gaps, the initiative has strengthened education delivery, improved student participation, and created opportunities for broader community engagement. The project demonstrates how targeted infrastructure support can significantly enhance the educational experience and overall well-being of students.
